Hundreds of thousands flock to Rumble to watch Trump interview censored by Big Tech
Alt-tech continues to thrive in the face of Big Tech censorship.
Former President Donald Trump’s first on-camera since leaving office has gone viral on the video-sharing platform Rumble after it was purged by Facebook and Instagram for being “in the voice of President Trump.”
The highly anticipated interview was conducted by the former President’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, on her show, The Right View with Lara Trump.
But it was swiftly removed by both Facebook and Instagram after Lara posted it to her official pages.
However, while the tech giant’s efforts to censor the video have prevented people from watching it on Facebook’s platforms, viewers have shown their disdain for Big Tech censorship by flocking to the Rumble version of the video which has racked up over 300,000 views within 24 hours.
Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski has consistently spoken out against Big Tech censorship and said that the platform is “not here to be an arbiter of truth.” He has also vowed to not dictate editorial policy to the Rumble community and promised to provide an open platform where everyone can participate and create videos without subjective restrictions.”
By hosting this interview after it was censored by Facebook, Rumble is not only demonstrating this commitment but it’s also showcasing the growing demand for social media platforms that don’t censor their users.
Hundreds of thousands of viewers came to Rumble in a 24 hour period because it allowed them to watch this interview with President Trump that had been censored elsewhere. Previous videos featuring the former President that were censored by the tech giants but posted to Rumble have also generated hundreds of thousands of views.
This support for open discussion and debate has helped Rumble attract a huge user base and it now has more than 80 million monthly visits.
The platform is backed by conservative commentator Dan Bongino and not only is Rumble gaining millions of viewers but it’s also planning to introduce several new features this year including live streaming, playlists, and improved monetization.
The platform has already conducted its first major live stream, Trump’s address at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2021 event, which brought in over 500,000 total viewers and it plans to fully roll out live streaming this year.
